How to install premade Storenvy theme

I get a lot of questions on how how to install one of my premade Storenvy themes. Below you'll find easy instructions and examples of error messages that might occur.

Backup and upgrade your current store design
Make a backup of your current store design before you install your new theme
A. In the Storenvy dashboard go to Storefront > Theme > Download Files
B. If you are still using the old Storenvy theme, upgrade to the Cooper theme


Replace CSS
A. Unzip your new theme files
B. Open styles.txt in a text editor like TextEdit (for Mac) or Notepad (for Windows) and copy all the code
C. If TextEdit (for Mac) is not properly opening the file go to > Preferences > Open and Save > and check the box "ignore rich text commands in html" or "display HTML files as HTML code"
D. Go to CSS mode and remove all of the code and replace it with your new code
E. Switch to Easy mode to change colors of fonts



Replace HTML
A. Open layout.txt in a text editor like  TextEdit (for Mac) or Notepad (for Windows) and copy all the code
B. If TextEdit (for Mac) is not properly opening the file go to > Preferences > Open and Save > and check the box "ignore rich text commands in html"
C. In the Storenvy dashboard go to Storefront > HTML pages > Layout > Using custom HTML
D. Remove all of the code and replace it with your new code
E. Open the rest of the pages (Eg Home, Collection, Product, Contact, Faq) one by one and replace the code with the new code

Below you will see an example of what the code should look like when you open it in plain text.


Example 1 - Error message
If you see the error below, the theme files are being opened as html and not as plain text. Be sure to open the theme files in a text editor like TextEdit (for Mac) or Notepad (for Windows)If TextEdit (for Mac) is not properly opening the file go to > Preferences > Open and Save > and check the box "ignore rich text commands in html" or "display HTML files as HTML code"


Example 2 - Error message
When saving the styles (css) you might see an error message "Number of products per page could not be saved". You can ignore the message, the css code is being saved properly.
